Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I may have balanitis, what are the treatment options. It is the result of poor hygiene rather than contact with thrush. Symptoms inc. splochiness, irritation, small blisters, bad smell, smegma. Should I be thinking steroid creams or antibiotics?
dear friend wash and clean the area apply antibiotic cream to start with mupirocin 2% is a good option alternate it with a betamethasone + anti fungal ointment keep a good hygene
You may aggravate the same if you self medicate with steroids before a clinical diagnosis would be made. Suggest not to assume a diagnosis. Balanitis closely resembles many a skin lesion and treatment dramatically changes. The antibiotic tyoe also would need to be determined on the extent of the lesions and the infective basis. Take a clinical consultation asap.
