My mother has been on oxycodone , lorazepam, another anti depressment , diabetic meds, constant bladder infections , always on anti biotics , she is not cognitive of her surtroundings at times, she hears about fleas or ticks how bad they are this summer and then she says she has them, she calls me multiple times a day complaining i have to come on immediately to take care of it....ITs like she is seeing and feeling things that are not there... she was in a rehab nursing home becasue her doctor knew she has mental conditions but im wondering if its getting into dimentia or schizophrenia behaviors ...I cannot have her calling me and interruppting me when i am with clients multiple times a day . I am wondering if i should call her doctor to get her back in becasue she is disrupting our household becasue she lives with us... SHe refuses to take showers she uses those bathing clothes for invalids , she is not very hygenic ...I am at a loss... SHe wont keep her room clean ....i dont know what to do or when its time that she permantly goes into assisted living

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Bladder infections are commonly seen recurrently due to poor toilet hygiene, low hydration and resistant bacterial infection. Culture and sensitivity test for urine with appropriate antibiotic treatment along with good hydration is necessary for treatment.
2. She appears to be having symptoms of hallucination. Care taker is necessary for her round the clock to manage her diet, hygiene, sleep and overall health care.
3. As you are unable to take care of her round the clock, at all times, you will need to get a full time caretaker or admit her to live in a assisted living care facility, where facilities are available for adequate care.
4. She is having signs of dementia, with possible Alzheimers disease. Mini mental examination can be helpful in confirmation. Meet your doctor for further evaluation and if positive, then she will require caretaker or assisted living for her better living.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
