Suggest Treatment For Blood In Urine And Stool, Constipation And Lower Abdominal Pain Due To PCOS

Hi, my daughter is 22 years old and she is having a lot of problems with constipation she has had some signs of very little blood in her urine and stool, she has pain in her lower right side of her abdomen. About two years ago she was diagnosed with PCOS and had surgery to remove scar tissue from a possible cyst on her ovary , she has since then lost 30 pounds has been dieting and exercising and eating very healthy and has all of her hormonal issues back on track, but still having more issues, we know she has built up calcium crystals that may cause kidney Stones and have recently had a kidney ultrasound which we don t have results back yet. We are struggling trying to find answers, the nurse that did the ultrasound procedure today said that she had and excessive amount of gas build up , does any of this sound like it is pointing to something specific?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. If there is blood in stool, pain with bowel movements, constipation is chronic and loosing weight right away call your doctor who may recommend following tests to find the cause of your constipation:

- blood test to check on hormone levels
- barium study to look for any blockage in the colon
- Colonoscopy

2. Since constipation causes sluggish digestion thus more gas is generated inside the colon [reason of excessive gas build up] otherwise check with a Gastroenterologist to exclude any other cause of excess abdominal gas like celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, splenic flexure syndrome, crohn's disease, diverticulosis, till then

3. have more of fibre content in your diet [more roughage in diet]
. take plenty of fruits, green leafy vegetables and vegetable juices
. avoid alcoholic beverages which tends to make body dehydrated instead drink more water [1.5-2 litres /day] and exercise regularly
. eat plenty of fruits with edible covers like apple, pears, inner cover of mosambi/orange
. avoid oily/fried foods
. tablet Gasex [himalaya] is good remedy for the same, however since it is a prescription drug talk with your healthcare provider before taking the same

4. If bloating persists, even though you have tried elimination diets and other methods of dealing with bloating, talk to your doctor sine it may be a symptom of a more serious disorder
