Hi and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern about the tremors and how they can be confusing and annoying for the patient, to not be able to control them, so the first thing is you need to be very patient with your father, while doing a few simple techniques that I am telling you now. These tremors are caused due to increase tone in the muscle as the brain has not not able to appreciate the movement, in the correct pattern which it was able to appreciate before. Here is what you can do to help him.
1. Weight bearing exercises- Prolonged weight bearing for 15 min initially and progressing to 30 min gradually. This will reduce the tone of the muscle and give the brain prolonged stimulation which is required . 2. Do gentle micro-movements, to re-educate the brain about the right pattern in both sides, first in left and then to the affected right side. For about 30 repetitions. 3. Check for a medication that he is taking particularly in the morning , some medicines induce tremors for a short period of time.
I hope this information is helpful. You can always get back for further queries. Thanks, Regards, Dr. Nidhi Sood (PT)
