Suggest Treatment For Bruise In My Legs

I dropped a plate on my foot yesterday and as soon as I did it, I had a big bruise and lump on the top of my foot. Today it has it is purple, blue, and red and has a lump to it. It doesn't hurt to walk but if I press on it, it hurts. Should I have this checked out? and how soon?
