Suggest Treatment For Bruised Buttocks Caused By An Injury

My husband fell off a small stepladder a week ago outside onto his coccyx and we went to a and e but they didn't xray as the doctor said there was nothing could be done. He was given cocodamol which is not helping. The odd day he has no pain but today very painful. I just checked and he has a massive bruise all around his buttocks. He will not go back to the doctors and he is also 75 and very fit (normally). What can I do please?

HI
Pain in tail bone(coccyx) called- coccydynia
I would advise
-Apply Hot Packs for 15 to 20 mts 4 times a day
-Don't sit for a long time at a place & on a hard surface
Use 'DOUGH NUT'
-Medicine for pain- Brufen at OTC thrice a day
-Eat high fiber diet,avoid constipation
Some times it takes even months to cure
If does not cured
-inj. xylocaine given locally
-x-ray –bone tail is advised
-Blood for hemogram,vit.d3,vit b 12,urine exam
-Exercise
-Orthopedic opinion
-Surgery
Hope this will help you
