Suggest Treatment For Bruising And Pain On Leg After An Injury

Hi. I fell down a flight of stainless steel stairs last weekend and over the past few says my right leg has bruised from half way down my thigh to my ankle. It is still growing and spreading and the skin feels tight. I cannot I put any pressure on my knee. Is this ok or should I have it checked?

Hi,
There is definitely a need for a check up by an orthopaedician to rule out any bony injury. Once bony injury (fracture) is ruled out, it can be treated on the lines of soft tissue contusion with rest , analgesics , enzymes , ice packs and limb elevation. It may take about 10 days for the bruises to come down provided you take complete rest and keep the limb elevated.
