Suggest Treatment For Burning And Spasms In Back Muscle

Hi I am female age 61,160 lbs and have had back pain for years degenerative disk. I use a tens machine, heating pad, obus form seat and backrest and exercise and stopped doing actitivies that made matters worst like seadoing, boating, snowmobling iceskating and lifting heavy objects. Now I garden, fish, swim somtimes play guitar and write and read. My problem now is the muscels in my lower back and buttocks are thumping like crazy day and night. The thumping never ever stops and sometimes my muscles burns. The only relief is standing. I can no longer sleep very well and sitting is almost unbearable. My family doctor says its coming from my old back problem. Sometimes I feel like an electric current is buzzing around the lower half of my body from around my belly and stomach area its an awful feeling. This thumping has been going on for at least 6 to 8 months and I can hardly bear it must longer. Have you heard of this before and is there anything I can do to get rid of it. Please help me. Marylou.

Hello,

You are suffering from burning and spasms in the back muscles. You have history of degenerative disk. Presently, your muscles in the lower back and buttocks are thumping and causing muscle burn sensations. Back spasms are involuntary muscle contractions commonly caused due to dehydration, strain, and exertion, include an underlying spinal condition like spondylosis, ruptured disc, injury or sprain to the back or spine, nerve compression, sciatica, herniated disc or spinal cord injury.

Back cramps can be due to muscle fatigue when a physical activity is performed without stretching or hydrating sufficiently first, or if due to salt and mineral depletion. You are suggested to replenish yourself with rehydrating fluids and water. Stretch by gently holding the muscle in the stretched position until the spasm stops. Massage the muscles gently. Get connected to a Physical therapist. Take pain relieving medication, naproxen, one stat when pain after food.

Get clinically examined by a GP, you may need to get a repeat X-ray, CT, MRI, blood tests, etc., done to evaluate the pathology causing you symptoms, so that treatment can be started at the earliest. If needed you may be referred to a Neurologist for Nerve conduction velocity test, etc., to assess the degree of nerve damage you will be treated accordingly. You can take medicine, NervUp OD, once daily for 10 days after food for nerve repair.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
