Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In Upper Abdomen

My girlfriend experiences a burning sensation in her stomach the center upper part right below the rib cage. This happens only when she lays down not when she is up and about. This is painful and its very difficult for her to sleep, she says years ago she was diagnosed with some type of stomach bacteria. Her Doctor doesnt seem to help because she only has the pain when she is lying down

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Probably she may be suffering from acute gastritis with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Avoid spicy food and caffeinated drinks. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Avoid painkiller medicine. If symptoms not improved, please consult your gastroenterologist he will do an endoscopy and treat her accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regard,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
