Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation While Urinating

I m 19, and my period just ended about a week ago. Ever since then, a few minutes after I urinate I have this burning feeling and pressure like I have to use the bathroom again. It s worse when I m sitting or standing up, also its worse when I wear jeans. It s not as bad when I have on sweatpants and I m laying down, relaxing. It gets annoying at work because I work with a lot of people and I m not always able to get to the bathroom as soon as it hits. I sometimes leak a little so I ve been wearing a pad when I m at work in case that happens, but it doesnt happen too often. Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This is related to urinary tract infection and not much related to the period.
You may need to do a urine analysis.
I could have treated you empirically with Bactrim or Ciprofloxacin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
