Suggest Treatment For Chest And Sinus Cold During Pregnancy

Hi- I am nine weeks pregnant and have a terrible chest and sinus cold. I also have Celiac disease and Hashimotos Thyroiditis. My obstetrician recommended that I take Sudafed, but on the label it says ask a doctor if you have thyroid disease . I take Tirosint 100mcg daily to treat the Hashimotos and supplement the TSH pregnancy needs. My regular dose before I was pregnant was 50mcg. Should I avoid taking the pseudoephedrine HCl (60 mg/dose) in this cold medicine? Or is it safe? Please advise. Thank you kindly.

There isn't a lot of research to support any recommendations but most ob's discourage the use of pseudoephedrine in the first trimester because of a very small link with a very rare birth defect: gastrochesis

It isn't an extremely dangerous medication but it is best to avoid it.
Hope that helps and good luck
