Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough And Acid Reflux

Ok, but ONLY if no charge....I do have acid reflux but also allergies at a level 2 from an allergist. I am only taking 12mg of chlorpheniramine maleate, but I still have a chronic cough, especially at night time and late afternoon. What else are possibilities?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to laryngo pharyngeal reflux. This can irritate throat and give cough. For this I would recommend taking proton pump inhibitors like Esomeprazole (Nexium) for long term. Better than chlorpheniramine maleate I would suggest combination of Levocetirizine (antihistamine) and monteleukast (mast cell stabilizer) at night time.
Avoid spicy , fatty and junk foods. Carbonated drinks , coffee , alcohol and smoking should be avoided also. You can take ginger tea or chamomile tea. Have your dinner at least 2 hours before bed time. Have light meals at short intervals. Raise the head end more with extra pillows while sleeping. These measures will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
