Suggest Treatment For Chronic Diarrhea

Mom has had chronic diarrhea for 4 weeks. She has loss of appetite and she says she doesn t hurt but has a soreness under her right breast that runs around to her back. She was tested for c-diff but it was negative but was given flagyl anyway. After five days diarrhea has improved some but still no appetite and still has the soreness. What do you suggest

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your Mother having chronic diarrhea for 4 weeks, loss of appetite, soreness under right breast that runs around her back, C.diff is negative but was given flagyl anyway.
This may be gastroenteritis.
I would advise her the following:
Continue Flagyl to complete the course,
Give proper antibiotic cover to get cured the infection of the intestines, as this can be enteric fever or so.
Tests of blood, urine and stool, ultrasonography and other tests as may be needed as per the clinical evaluation and have proper additional treatment to get a cure,
The appetite will improve only on improvement of intestinal condition.
