Chronic heartburn, tightness back of throat, pain at top of sternum, hurts to have a bra touch the area, I take ranitidine twice daily, I avoid spicy food, soda , etc but I still always have a problem daily. I had GI taken months ago which was ok. So why is the area so painful, and the heartburn persists.
Pain and heartburn may be due to gastritis with reflux disease, which may lead to corrosion of posterior pharynx and larynx lead to pain. Other possibilities like 1. Pharyngitis. 2. Tonsillitis. 3. Ulcers or abscess in the mouth. 4. Globus pharyngitis etcetera. Avoid spicy food and alcohol. Avoid smoking. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Until the examination, is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your ENT specialist or gastroenterologist they will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
