Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had earaches as a child. My ear sometimes hurts when I lay on it. I ve had very infrequent whole body seizure episodes w 2 yr, 3 yr, 10 yr, then 12 yr, 14 yr, 6 yr & 1 yr in between episodes (8 episodes since age 18). I have refused seizure medication as I have worked in natural food industry for years & prefer natural treatments. I m 67 yr old. I recently had 2 seizures a few hours apart & was taken to hospital. CT indicated sclerosis of right mastoid bone, suggestive of chronic mastoiditis. Could this be possible cause of seizures & what would be suggested treatment?
As per my clinical experience, chronic mastoiditis can pause issues with hearing problem, recurrent ear infection, spinning or vertigo, sensorineural deafness issue in various cases. However, chances of seizures through chronic mastoiditis are not that commonly documented.
Usual cases do require surgery after MRI confirmation of the same. If any of the reports are available with you, kindly share with me for further guidelines and discussion.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
