Suggest Treatment For Chronic Pain In The Navel Area

I have constant cronic pain in upper abdamon above belly button and below breast bone with cronic pain in back directly across the front area in question. This is a long ongoing pain. Better some days than others. Feel the need to eat cold soft foods more often than not. Have had ultra sound, cat scan, mri, x-rays ----- all normal ---- but pain continues. What do I do now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

To better evaluate the stomach and rule out problems with gastritis or peptic ulcer you will need an upper endoscopic examination called upper gastroduodenoscopy. This will check the stomach mucosa and if abnormalities are found biopsy may be taken to confirm the nature of the abnormalities.
Some stool tests might be advisable as well like stool for ova and parasite, stool antigen for giardia, stool culture, stool microscopy, etc. Colonoscopy (lower endoscopic examination, which examines the bowel) might be needed as well.

The examinations you mention like ultrasound, MRI, scans, etc, do rule out problems with other organs like liver, kidneys, gallbladder, spleen, etc.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj,
