Suggest Treatment For Clear Discharge From Nose After Treated Fungal Infection
Hi, My father has a history of migraines which start suddenly, without any appropriate reason. Also he has been having a gradual loss of hearing from around the time his migraines started. He underwent an endoscopic surgery for CSF rhinorrhea almost 5yrs back. The surgery involved removal of polypoids from his sinuses and bridging of hernia. Post-operatively he got a fungal infection in his nose because of which he continously would smell foul odour. The problem got solved after an extensive course of anti-fungal medicines. However lately he is again getting discharge of clear fluid from his nose which is suspected to be csf. Will another surgery be really helpful? Is there any conservative method of treatment for him. He is 51yrs.
Clear discharge is a sign of CSF leak. Consult an ENT surgeon and get evaluated. A CT scan is required for further assessment. A biochemical assessment of the discharge is required for confirmation.
