Suggest Treatment For Cold And Fever

My son is 2 years old and he keeps getting sick from the same illness for already 3-4 months. He gets cold liek symptoms- sore thraot, heavy cough, high fever, irritability, clinginess, then he passes his illness to me and I also get sick. We stay sick for at least 3 weeks despite taking antibiotics prescribed by doctors. Then we stay healthy for only 1 week and then my son gets sick again from teh same thing and again he passes it to me adn again we stay sick for 3 weeks, adn this has been happening now for 4-5 times. plese help. thank you.

Hi,

If the same symptoms are recurring again and again, this probably indicates that the organism is not completely eradicated, or there is a chronic infection like tuberculosis. If I were your treating doctor, I would have ordered few tests including blood routine, ESR, peripheral smear, blood culture, chest X-ray and a mantoux test. If all these tests are normal, I would treat this with an antibiotic like Amoxiclav or Cefuroxime for 14 days to see the response. Kindly discuss with your pediatrician.

Meanwhile, complete her immunisations including pneumococcal, and include lot of green leafy veges and fruits in diet to avoid micro nutrient deficiency, which can impair immunity.
