Suggest Treatment For Constant Diarrhea When Diagnosed With A Polyp

I have almost constant diarrhea. It’s been going on and off for about 5 years. One doctor told me it was from diabetes medication years ago. This is now affecting my daily life. It has become worse and I never know when it will happen and it happens suddenly. I have tried being gluten free, but still have it. I have been tested for celiacs and it is negative. My current doctor says to schedule a colonoscopy and do a biopsy but I wonder if there are any stool or blood tests that can determine a cause before I do that . I had a colonoscopy about 2 years ago and they found one polyp but I was still having issues then. I am at my wits end. It has begun to affect my daily life. Any suggestions?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Your problem of diarrhea is for the last 5 years and it seems that you take medications for diabetes too.
THe causes for sudden diarrhea can one a combination of the following:
IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome and this is stress or anxiety related hence if you have these problems a good control over psychological problems alonge can help you to get over the issues.
For us to say this to be IBS, it is needed to have all the relevant tests normal. And these area as follows: Tests of stool for three consecutive days, tests of blood particularly for thyroid, liver and kidney functions, Diabetes panel and as needed.
CT scan of the whole abdomen.
colonoscopy and biopsy.
If a specific cause is found on the way, you will be treated specifically.
If all the tests are normal, then this can be taken as a case of IBS.
Polyp does not cause diarrhea, hence may be unrelated.
Intestinal infection can be treated well by an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics.
Identify the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems and stop these altogether as prevention is better than cure.
