Suggest Treatment For Constipation Despite Taking Fibers

My doctor is a medication pusher so Im trying to avoid a visit to her at all costs. For years I have taken probiotics and it has seemed to work until recently. I eat a very balanced diet (non gmo) and workout at least three times perweek as well as being active at work. Ive been keeping up with my probiotics. I have plenty of fiber, chia seeds, water, and drink a small amount of komahatcha every day. However I will go maybe once a week. I dont feel bloated or in any discomfort at all. I am 5 8 and 111lbs and continue to drop weight even when weighing myself on day 7 of no pooping. I eat roughly 4 times per day. At least three if not all are full meals.

Hello,

Constipation and loss of weight in spite of balanced diet as you have mentioned in details indicate that you need to go for a proper way to find the cause.

Hence I would advise you the following:

- Consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, examination.
- X-ray of abdomen to see for fecolith formation and if present to go for formal conventional enema to get rid of colonic fecal load.
- Have proper preparation for colonoscopy and biopsy.
- CT scan of abdomen.
- Tests of blood and stool.

All these will give a probable cause, may be a cancer of colon at least to be ruled out. If all the tests are normal then this may be IBS-C that is irritable bowel syndrome of constipation variety and your Doctors will treat you accordingly.

Try to take the normal usual diet as it helps. Probiotics for no cause is not needed, particularly in case of constipation. Chill out and stay away for stress and anxiety; change the lifestyle.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
