Suggest Treatment For Constipation

My question is just that. How do I get unconstiptated? I have been plagued by this condition since having a foot operation two years ago which severely reduced my mobility. Any advice you can give will be much appreciated. My doctor prescribes laxatives which are only mildly effective and has conducted routine tests to eliminate any obvious complications.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of constipation along with reduced mobility due to foot surgery can be due to reduced physical activity of your body that might be causing reduced metabolism leading to Constipation..

It can also be due to causes like sudden changes in dietary habits, excess intake of antacids, irritable bowel syndrome, excess intake of dairy, eating disorders, side effects of medicines, Hypothyroidism etc..

In case if routine tests are done and he did not find any underlying pathology then you need not to worry as it will resolve gradually..

1.Take a high fibre diet, incorporate plenty of green leafy vegetables, fruits and salads..
2.Drink plenty of water..
3.You can also be advised to take laxativs like Polyethylene glycol [Miralax], castor oil also acts as a lubricant and laxative..
4.You can also be advised to take Psyllium husk or Lactulose..
5.You can also be advised medications like Lubiprostone or Linaclotide..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
