Suggest Treatment For Dehydration When Suffering From Diabetes

My brothers daughter has been a type one diabetic since the age of seven. Now at 50 she is blind and has a colostomy. Has been getting dehydrated. She is in assisted living and has had to go to the hospital as she bottoms out. They then give her a couple of I V s and send her back to the center. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you--MaggieMae-Peg at Comcast.net

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

She should not be repeatedly dehydrated unless she is having excess fluid loss or there is reduced fluid intake.

If she is getting dehydrated,it may be either that her blood sugars are running high and she is losing fluid via frequent urination or she is not be given enough fluids to drink.

You or other family member may need to speak to staff members at the facility.

I hope this helps
