Suggest Treatment For Dementia

I am 81 yrs. old and I think I have acquired dementia symptoms. The thing I can t do anymore is handle my favorite pastime which is playing Bridge. It is embarrassing. I know my future is inevitable but my question is, how long can I be independent before I deteriorate and need help? . Ernie.

Better diet and healthy lifestyles have pushed the expected life span and lead to rise in elderly age related problems secondary to cumulative effects of cellular wear and tear.
Dementia (Alzheimer's , Frontotemporal dementia and others) is age related mostly but may be associated with some metabolic correctable causes also like vitamin B12 deficiency , hypothyroidism or alcohol related. Progression and need of care depends upon status at diagnosis , comorbid illness like diabetes , hypertension and alcohol or other abuse. some drugs may delay the progression and are beneficial if started early. Daily diary , notes , record keeping, removing too much objects from room may help.
