Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
First ma'am i want you to try to relax and stop worrying so much!
Thyroid disease is common in many women and if your medication is at the right level during the
pregnancy, everything will be fine. Babies being born with retardation from
low thyroid hormone are very rare.
Your doctor will likely check your hormone level and adjust your medication level every few months. It takes that long for the thyroid to adjust to the medication. And your free thyroid hormone level, not your
TSH (which is the high number you mentioned) is what determines how much is going to the baby.
So in summary I am sure your baby is fine and as long as you take your thyroid medication as instructed by your doctor your pregnancy has an excellent prognosis.
So please try not to
stress so much about this condition anymore as your baby really is not at significant risk.
I hope I answered your question and that my advice was helpful,
Best wishes, Dr. Brown
