Suggest Treatment For Diarrhoea And Confusion Caused After Taking Synthroid

Yes please. My 84 year old mom has hypothyroidism and her tsh read over 9 twice this year. The endo adjusted her synthroid actually down because the dosage was too high for her body causing diareha and confusion. Her agap read 4 and her gp and endo never mentioned it. I believe that is blood sodium and probably can cause some confusion. i was wondering if there was something i coul give her maybe a drink to help?

Hi welcome to HCM.

Diarrhea in your case is due to the overt action of thyroxine hormone. Its important that lower dosage like 25mcg daily be used.Serum electrolytes lave to be tested and if found to be altered have to be promptly corrected.Drugs like loperamide can control loose stool.Consult your doctor for further queries.

Thank you.
