Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Passing Stools After Sigmoid Removal
I had 6 inches of sigmoid removed three and half months ago. Have difficulty passing normal and soft stool. I do have high triglycerides. I have to rock and roll and change positions to get movement started. Often have to press perineum to help process. 76 yo f.
There is a history of sigmoid colon removal hence there can be a stricture or narrowing formation at the anastomosis site. Another reason is discontinuity in the intestines hence the nervous signals are not normally passed for the bowel movement to have normalcy.
I would advise you the following in such a situation: • Get barium enema study, defecating MRI and colonoscopy to know the exact cause and get treated accordingly. • Also stop all the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance your problems. • Take mild laxatives, try all and continue the one that suits and helps you the best.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
