hi my 72 step father has lost his ability to keep food down and has pain when he eats. he throw ups. he has been having digestive orders all year using tums etc ..but this is now extreme - he can not eat anything .he lost 30 pounds in last two months

From history as he is 72 years of age with having difficulty in taking food with vomiting requires evaluation of his case.
At this age a space occupying lesion in gastro-intestinal tract should be ruled out.
Consult gastroenterologist and get examined.
Ultra sound of abdomen with endoscopy will be very helpful to come to diagnosis.
Ok and take care.
