Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was just in our local ER yesterday and the dr. found 3-4 bug bites on my back. I went into the ER for the pain in my upper back between the shoulder blades, this is where the bug bites are located. It was not addressed after that initial find. They put me on antibiotics, 2 of them, for the diverticulitis they found. A pain medication that really does not help. What do I do about these bug bites, and seeing that they are near the middle of my back, how do I treat them. I live alone and over 65 years old.
Now you are anxious about the big bites on your back. A few treatment options of bug bites are pain medications like NSAIDs Ibuprofen. To prevent gastric irritation, you need to use tab. Pantop. Remove any stingers. Gently wash the area with soap and water. Apply a cloth dampened with cold water or filled with ice to the area of the bite or sting for 10 to 20 minutes. This helps reduce pain and swelling.
Apply to the affected area calamine lotion, baking soda paste, or 0.5% or 1% hydrocortisone cream. Do this several times a day until your symptoms go away Antihistamines like Cetirizine, Loratadine are helpful to decrease allergy. Prevent future bites by moving to another area without bugs or clean all the bugs away.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
