Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with Diverticulities 2 weeks ago and I was on liquid diet for one week. I finished my antibiotics and still taking miralax. now it is 3 days that I did not see any bowel movement. all I ate was mashed potatoe, mac and cheese , drink gatorade, ensure and wate..I have a little pain in my side now. am I doing anything wrong?
Based on the history you have shared, you are following good food compliance but a repeat follow up with gastroenterologist as well as fresh stool analysis may be needed.
Antibiotics may be needed if abdominal symptoms persist or accompanied with fever or blood in stool etc. Probiotics and anti spasmodic like drotavarine may be helpful as well.
X-ray erect abdomen for any dilated gut loops or air-fluid levels may be needed during follow up. Meanwhile avoiding heavy greasy or oily foods must be ensured.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
