Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I known I have diverticulitus nodules or whatever they are called in by bowel. This has been established a few years ago. Once since then I had pains and got some anti biotics and the pain went a way quite quickly. This was a few years ago and I am 66 years old and healthy. I have a pain lower right started at lunch time and getting more frequent. My local surgery is now shut. Presumably I can ring their off duty no and ask them how I get the anti biotics?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of a known case of diverticular nodules or diverticulosis since a few years, get pain once since then and got cleared with antibiotics quite quickly, now have pain in the right lower abdomen started at lunch time and getting more frequent... Since you are a known case of Diverticulitis, the chances of inflammation causing diverticulitis is there but the pain in the right lower is not much known to occur with diverticulitis. Hence the possibility of appendicitis and lymph node mass has to be borne in mind. I would advise you the following in such a situation: CT scan helps the best to get the differential diagnosis cleared. Clinical evaluation and examination helps further along with the reports of blood, stool and urine tests along with ultrasonography. Get a proper course of antibiotic and you may have to go to ER as your Surgeon is off duty and you certainly need a proper valid prescription to get the antibiotic, which may be very much necessary.
