i M 55 YRS OLD AND I HAVE DIVERTICULOSIS ..WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH LOOSE STOOL....LATER I HAVE BEEN PASSING NOTHING BUT YELLOW MUCUS...LAST TIME IT LOOKED LIKE IT MAY HAVE HAD A TING OF BLOOD ALSO WITH MUCUS...BOWELS ARE IRRITABLE AND HURTS ALL DOWN IN LOWER ABDOMINAL AREA.

Dear- you need to have a liquid diet to avoid complications. If you have severe pain and fever, you will need to see a doctor for antibiotic treatment.As soon as you start feeling better, you can progress diet to bland, avoid small seeds and spicy food.
Sometimes it goes away without antibiotics but in severe cases you need intravenous administration of antibiotics.
