Suggest Treatment For Dizzy Spells After A Head Injury

Yesterday I was biking and took a turn too tightly and I couldn t stop the bike so I hit a tree head on. The bike hit the tree first and then the right side of my head hit the tree. I didn t lose consciousness. I remember exactly what happened. I felt a little nauseous afterwards and have been having dizzy spells all day whenever I change directions, like turn my head fast or get up or lie down. I don t have any other symptoms for a concussion. Should I still get checked out? My head is still swollen and hurts.

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms are related to a head concussion.

But the dizzy spells can also be caused by positional paroxysmal vertigo. This is a benign disorder affecting the inner ear, caused by trauma.

So, I would recommend having some rest for some days.

If the problem persists, I would recommend consulting with an ENT specialist and performing labyrinthine tests.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Best wishes, Dr. Aida
