Suggest Treatment For Dormant Herpes

Hello,I'm very worried that I may have contracted herpes. I have had very few partners, but I did often engage in unprotected sex with one of them (my ex-husband) about 5 years ago. About 4 years ago, I felt severe pain in the back of my upper legs and butt. It was so severe that it hurt to wear pants. I didn't think much of it, but 2 days ago I experienced the same pain again. I have never had any kind of outbreak or cold sore in my life nor any symptoms other than the pain. When married to my ex-husband, I never saw or was told that he had herpes or any STD. Also, I have only had intercourse with one partner since my ex-husband, protected, who is not positive for any STDs.I went to a doctor. He said that it was possible that I contracted herpes and that it was dormant in my body for all these years. He gave me a test, but declined to make any prognosis test. I am currently waiting for the results.I guess what I am looking for is some kind of information or something idea of what to expect whether it is good or bad.Thank you so much.

It is observed that sometimes virus lies latent in sensory ganglia but leaks out when immunity wanes due to any reason. This reactivation causes neuritic pain.Chronic or recurrent herpes is often seen in the HIV infected. I suggest you go for HIV ELISA test.Diagnosis for herpes is made clinically. Treatment includes prescription drugs like Acyclovir, Valcyclovir, Famcyclovir. Follow up with investigations. Best of health.
