Suggest Treatment For Elongated Knot On The Inside Of Gums
I have an elongated knot on the inside of my gums behind my front bottom teeth. It does not go beyond the gums. The back of my bottom front two teeth bleed when i brush them. It only bothers me when I eat. It isn't red. It is firm and about the width of a quarter. The gums are smooth just firm. Should I be concerned? I have been to the dentist and they took xrays and said it was fine and that was all.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain a knot over the gums can be due to gum infection leading to formation of a gum abscess or a periodontal abscess[ if infection involves deeper structure like bone], it can also be due to decayed tooth causing dental abscess formation..
While in cas if the knot is bony hard it can be a bony torous caused due to overgrowth of the jaw bone..
A consultation with an oral physician can help in confirming the cause.. Gum or periodontal abscess will be treated with scaling, antibiotics and painkillers while tooth infection can be treated with root canal treatment or extraction.. If it is a torous surgical removal has to be done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
