I am a fifty year old I thought was in good health but last year I had a physical and the dr said my prostate was enlarged.went back this year for a physical and the dr told me it was still enlarged and was rough on the opposite side had a psa test it was .88 saw a urologic surgeon and they are going to do a biopsy anything to worry about.
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist,i can understand your anxiety. If your PSA is 0.88,there should be no cause for worry. The biopsy is final. your Urologist may've felt some nodular or firm area on rectal examination. That's the indication for your biopsy. That'll clear the doubt of malignancy. Usually,a TRUS (trans rectal scan) is also done, before doing the biopsy. If you've any doubt, send the reports to me,as a direct question. Dr.Matthew J. Mangat.
