Suggest Treatment For Fainting And Headache After Being Hit In Face

My daughter was hit in the face by a dodgeball last week. We went to the ER and had a CAT scan and bllod work. All are normal. Since then she has not been able to get rid of her migrain headache, and continues to faint every time she is upright. She is fainting several times a day. She does better if she is reclined or lying down. She gets tingling in her hands and cold extremities every time it happens. Is there a treatment that can stop this from happening??

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. It is good that her CT scan was normal. Now as she is having pain and repeated fainting attacks, it could be due to inflammation (reaction) post injury. If she is having redness or bruise and swelling at injury site, it means inflammation is still present. Do not worry, it is good for healing.

Now for relief in pain and those fainting attacks, you can follow few tips
: Ask her to avoid stress and straining activities.
: Apply icepacks at injury site if it is on forehead.
: Keep her face at higher level than chest.
: You can give her anti inflammatory pain killer like Diclofenac sodium to relieve pain and edema.
: Ask her to gradually increase her stamina. It will be painful initially, but with time she will be able to regain her full strength. Do not worry about fainting episodes, excessive pain can cause vagal syncope. If she will gradually increase her stamina, fainting episodes will subside on its own.
: If her pain and swelling progressively increase, then consult ER as soon as possible. Repeat evaluation will be needed to rule out infection at injury site.

Hope it will help you. Take care. Thanks.
