Suggest Treatment For Fever And Body Pains In Children

My 15-year old son developed a fever yesterday afternoon. His temperature goes between 100 - 103 depending how the meds work. He is feeling generally weak and states that his throat hurts a little. He does not want to eat anything. --- He is usually healthy and a big guy (6 feet tall and almost 200 pounds)....a tall, big, healthy guy. He is right now taking Extra Strength Tylenol. -------- I looked up the symptoms on WebMD.com and they seem to point to the FLU. I am thinking about switching to Ibuprofen to address the fever and body aches. ---------- I would be grateful for any advice you could give.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
from symptoms it seems that he might be having viral infection in throat giving this problem.
It requires symptomatic treatment for fever, pain.
Give him ibuprofen medicine round the clock for pain and fever.
Give him plenty of water.
Avoid cold drinks, junk food.
If fever remains for more days then this can be bacterial infection so he might require one course of antibiotic like Azithromicin for 3-5 days.
give him rest.
Ok and take care.
