Suggest Treatment For Fever And Sore Throat

My 3 year old daughter came down with a fever 2 weeks ago, it was accompanied by a sore throat and soft stools. I attributed the soft stools to the fact she wasn t eating much for 3 days. She seemed better around the 3rd day, fever gone, acting normal, but stools continued to be unformed and she went 4 or 5 times a day. Tonight she is once again running a fever of a 100.2. She is still going to the bathroom with loose stools, they haven t returned to normal since she was ill 2 weeks ago. Do I need to be concerned?

Hi,

Is the stool blood stained or contains mucus? Any pain during defecation? This probably suggests acute gastro enteritis. As this has lasted for 2 weeks and fever has returned, this might need antibiotic treatment. Kindly take her to your pediatrician. Meanwhile, give her paracetamol for fever, and frequent sips of fluids like ORS after each stools to prevent dehydration.
