Suggest Treatment For Fever And Tonsillitis In A Child

My 3yr old daughter has constant high fever for 5 days now and shes having swollen gum and flaming tonsilitis.. Shes been admitted in paeditric ward forb3 days now..the doctor said its because of viral infection. They give her IV cannulation and antibiotic and paracetamol 250mg. Yet the fever still high and only comes down to 38-37 for an hr or two. The swollen gum getting worse and ger tonsils are getting bigger that almost meeting to the centre. Please advice what can we do to reduce this. Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
If your paediatrician calls it a virus, the child should not be on a high antibiotic. If it is bacterial, then antibiotics are justified. If there is no response in 3 days, the antibiotic should be reviewed. A blood count and a X ray of the chest are definitely needed, as also the opinion of a ENT surgeon as she has very big tonsils.

This would be the rational way to treat her.
