Hi,

From the description, it seems to be a viral fever your baby is suffering from. The following are to be considered before getting admitted in a hospital:
1) Viral fever may last for 4-7 days with fever on and off
2) Continue giving the syrup every 4-5 hours
3) If the baby is eating food and drinking water and milk, there is no need of admission into a hospital
4) Give plenty of fluids

Admission is necessary only if there are vomiting, diarrhea, absolutely not taking any food, and high fever with seizures, if the baby loses consciousness, and severe burning urine. If your baby is active enough and has no above symptoms, there is no need for hospital admission.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
