Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter got bit last night by what I assumed was a mosquito. However today she has gotten a fever of 103.4 with no other symptoms and with both alternating Tylenol and Motrin it only brings it down a degree or so. I m also taking her temperature orally and she is 2 and a half. Her bit also feels hot to the touch. Should I take her into the ER?
Most fever encountered in General practice are viral, self limiting and require only symptomatic treatment. . Cold compresses over forehead, axillae, neck . Bed rest with blanket . Semi solid or liquid diet . Avoid exposure to wind/cold. Avoid bath-only sponging
. Before labelling a fever as viral, look for as a compylaory routine for - jaundice, neck stiffness, abdomen for liver and spleen and auscultate the chest.
. One should always try to find the cause of the fever by evaluating the aasociated symptoms.
