Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, yesterday my daughters friend ate a BLT sandwich at the cafeteria at University. Soon after eating, she began to feel like she had been drugged. She could not see clearly and she was unable to focus. Within 1 hour she felt worse, and panicked. She could not tell if she was awake or dreaming, she then had the sensation that she was urinating in her pants. She was unable to see a doctor, as she had class and the walk in clinic was a few hour wait. After a few hours, she began to feel a little better. What could cause these symptoms? I have not heard how she is today.
i'm glad that her daughter is feeling better now. she might have suffered from an acute gastroenteritis or a stomach upset probably secondary to that food intake, especially if the symptoms appeared after eating and no other food was taken prior.. it happens when the ingredients of the food are starting to spoil or if the preparation is not hygienic.
keep her hydrated by increasing her water/fluid intake and make sure that she checks on the food first before she eats them. it would also be better if your friend could bring her daughter to a pediatrician just to have her checked.
hope this helps.
good day!!
