Suggest Treatment For Frequent Bowel Movement

Hi- I have read many websites about digestive disorders and have not found a single one that describes my condition. I have a combination of excessive bowel movements with minor constipation. Meaning that either I have some difficulty going at first, but then am not only able to go, but go excessively, often with moments of consitpation in between what appear to be healthy bowel movements. I do not have diarrhea. I do not have nausea. I do not have stomach aches or pain. I do have internal hemorrhoid which sometimes bleeds as a result of the bowel movements although I am very careful to limit the impact of this bowel probelm on my hemodrrids. Now when I say excessive, I mean that I may go as many as 6-8 times in a morning in order to completely eliminate waste. For the most part, the waste itself is normal. Either it is a soft consistentcy, like wet cement, or it is long classic stool shape, but no diarrhea or bizarre unnatural or sickly odor. I rarely have a day when I can get my movement completely in less than 1-2 hours, often going as if totally normal, but then realizing I need to go again- then again- then again- then again! In between these various movements, are constipation-like difficulty when only a small piece or sometimes a mucousy liquid will preced what will then be another normal movement, which I would think would be the end of things, but typically is one of three to four until I am done. Note that I am an incredibly healthy eater, mostly organic/natural, avoid certain foods like nuts and chocolate that I have noticed make things worse, and no spicy food. I do not notice any other foods that seem to irritate the problem, except maybe hard alcohol, which i do not drink as a result. I also notice that breads, beer and heavy carbs make me feel bloated, and so my carb intake is quite low. I have tried gluten free bread, but as far as the bowel movements, I see no difference. I used to eat bread, pasta, beer no problem in my forties, now in my 50 s (57) I can barely take a sip of a beer without feeling stuffed. But meat, vegetables, seafood, cheese, no problem. I do take a daily probiotic- I should mention that these problems really began at 50 and have gotten worse, and that without probiotic my stool and bowel movements are very very weird- it s as if my system collapses, unable to properly digest food. So the probiotic has been a big help. FIber and water help, although they both make me go a lot, which is already the problem! But fiber, water and fresh squeezed juices definitely help me eliminate waste more comfortably- but I still go a ridiculous amount, and it takes a long time to complete the process. Usually, I lose hours of my morning dealing with this, and eventually, when I am literally all done, the rest of the day goes by without any real problem. I eat, feel fine and not until the next morning am I dealing with this again

Hi! Read your detailed history with interest. My first impression is that you may be suffering from what doctors call Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). If I were your doctor, I'd want to do some basic blood tests and colonoscopy to rule out other conditions. Once that is taken care of, IBS can be managed reasonably well. Hope I have answered your question.
