Suggest Treatment For Gallstones In An Elderly Person

My mother is 92 years old. Just diagnosed with having gallstones. Doctor s office staff person says no treatment recommended: they will pass (unable to get a call back from MD or his RN so far). We have no idea what to expect, if there are any meds (even OTC painkillers) that exasperate the problem, how they pass, what level of pain might occur (or for how long), etc. Don t even really know what a gallstone is or what to do. Any info or advise appreciated.
