Suggest Treatment For Gastric Pain After Taking Pain Killers

I took some painkillers tr other night and now I seem to have gastric pain. I have taken these before with no problem. Past two nights I have been awakened by some pain and a sense of hunger and I will eat something and my stomach becomes better. Should I take antacids instead of food in the middle of the night?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Although the painkillers suited you in past, it does not guarantee that suits every time.
The presence of pain at night leading to awakening, being helped with eating something is definitely indicative of a gastric problem like gastritis or an ulcer.
I would advise you the following:
Antacids as you have correctly mentioned.
PPI like Omeprazole.
Soft bland diet.
Stop the medication that caused the gastric problem.
Consult a Gastroenterologist so that you can have an Upper GI Endoscopy and further management as per the reports.
I find this answer helpful
