Suggest Treatment For Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Hi , my 22 year old son has been diagnosed with gerd and has been taking ppi somac for the last 8 months. He is now getting silent reflux with anything he eats regurgitating up to his throat. Doctor now wants him to take motilum 3 times a day but after reading the warnings and precautions we are concerned about side affects. He has always been a very fit and healthy young man, but this gerd problem is affecting his every day life unable to even drink water without it regurgitating. Could you offer any advice?

If He is having such a severe illness then i would suggest you to go for Either of these two tests 1- Upper GI Endoscopy or 2-Trans-esophageal USG to diagnose the route cause of this disease as he might be having Hiatus Hernia or LES motility disorder for which he might also need to undergo Barium swallow &/or Bariatric studies to reach the actual cause & then decide further plan of treatment so better you consult a Gastroenterologist for all these tests, till then ask him to modify his daily routine like he should take dinner early by 8 pm and regularly do exercises(light) n loose weight (if he is overweight) & obviously continue to take a PPI before breakfast i.e. 40 mg Pantoprazole tablet daily.
