Suggest Treatment For Hair Loss After Taking Depakote And Tegretol

I ve been taking Depakote, Tegretol, and Neurontin for bipolar 2 disorder for about 3 years. About 3 months ago I started noticing hair loss and within the past few weeks it s really, really accelerated. When I refilled my Depakote a couple of days ago I checked the info and saw hair loss listed, called my psychiatrist, and he stopped it. BUT just now went I was researching whether the loss would be permanent I saw a lot of discussions about Tegretol causing this too! I m a women who always been proud of her hair. Is this loss reversible?

Hello

I can understand your concerns.

Depakote is the main culprit for causing hair loss.
Tegretol is never indicated for bipolar 2 disorder.
Lamictal is the drug of choice for bipolar 2.
You should talk to your doctor about this. Lamictal is much safer in hair loss problem

Thanks
