Neurologist, Surgical 's  Response
Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. It is good that you are observing him so closely. Now that you have noticed definitive change in his sleep pattern, first you should wake him up. If he wakes up without much difficulty and then responds to your general questions like what time it is? what date it is? what is the name of his school?, then it is good and you should not worry.

To rule out any doubts, we should observe signs which can suggest dangerous head injury

: vomiting
: bleed through nose/ear/throat
: loss of consciousness for more than 5 minutes
: decreasing consciousness
: fits
: persistent headache not responding to painkillers

If he develops any of above signs, you must consult Doctor as soon as possible. He might advise CT head to rule out fracture or brain bleed. Fracture is usually managed conservatively while brain bleed may be evacuated surgically.

If no above sign, then you can wait and observe him at home. No need to worry. You can follow few tips to relieve his pain

: Apply icepacks at injury site
: You can give him painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
: Avoid pressure at injury site
: Keep head at higher level than chest
: If still no relief, you can consult doctor.

Hope it will help him and relieve your concern. Thanks.

Take care.
