Suggest Treatment For Heavy Periods Despite Getting A Mirena Coil Inserted

I got the Mirena Coil in place sept 2015 because i was suffering with really heavy periods. I was hoping the coil would stop my periods but it has never worked. The last couple of months i seem to be constantly bleeding and am getting fed up now. Should i have it removed? Is there anything else i can try?
