Suggest Treatment For Heel Pain

Hi, I have a real bad pain in the back of my heel. It hurts really bad when I first get up and start walking. If I keep walking I can walk it off. If I sit down the pain comes back. This has been going on for the last 4 days. I think it might be in the tendon.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
This pain is due to a disease which is called as planter fasciitis. In this there is inflammation of the planter fascia. This causes pain and swellin during walking, mostly in the morning.
As you are saying that it is since last 4 days that you are having this , so i have following suggestions for you,
1. Take Brufen for pain relief.
2. Hot water fomentaiton
3. soft foot wear, or silicone insole.
4. Steroid injection if pain is very bad
Usually it is not very serious problem. It is difficult to treat though. Start following these steps and you will feel better.
